Welcome to the joys of the weekend and the vibrancy of October! I couldn’t agree more with Anne, cherishing the simple beauty of the world during the loveliest month of the year. Just like clockwork, the arrival of October had Kaitlyn springing out of bed, eager to rummage through our Halloween storage and transform our home from cozy autumn to spellbinding fall. Her unbridled enthusiasm for seasonal changes never fails to bring a smile to my face. Just a quick heads-up, the most affordable, yet fascinating Halloween decorations are right here.
A thrilling Friday awaits us! From a cheerful meet-up at the park with our buddies, a visit from my beloved mother, to the high-octane soccer games with the girls, there’s much excitement brewing. And of course, cheering for our favorite teams as football season soars; all under the golden Autumn sun! However, before we leap into these adventures, let’s unwind with our delightful End-of-Week Wrap-Up.
ONE: Amazon Picks for September
A glance over the favorites might surprise you with a couple of unexpected entries that deviate from my typical recommendations. The reason? My dear David decided to share his take on efficient gadgets designed for yard work and home improvements. His reviews have already found a fanbase judging by the storefront views. A few popular items include:
-The efficient 4 Gallon Battery Powered Backpack Sprayer
-Effective home gadgetry, the Emporia Home Energy Monitor and the Sense Energy Monitor
-Stunning Faux Fall Mums
-The intricate Artisan Sourdough (spiral edition)
-Fuss-free Stainless Steel 16 oz Lunch Thermos
TWO: Dining Delights: The Lazy Goat, Greenville
David and I managed to sneak in a dinner date this week at the recently relaunched The Lazy Goat. The restaurant, superbly located along the Reedy River and the Swamp Rabbit Trail, offers a fascinating experience for people watching. Fascinating interiors and excellent staff are the highlights. Though the food presentation was visually appealing, our taste adventure would score a 7/10. The truffle fries stood out for their crunchiness, but needed a pinch more salt and a different kind of dip. The lamb kabobs, however, were blissfully tasty!
THREE: Autumn Garden Adventures
My attitude towards gardening this Fall? Pretty casual, to say the least. It’s a nice way to admit I’m not giving my garden its due diligence. I did manage to prepare it for the season by removing all the wilted summer plants, adding fresh soil and seeding it with carrots, broccoli, cabbage, kale, parsley, dill, sage, thyme, and oregano. Whether these sprouts come to fruition, only time will reveal. My gardening plans also include finding space for garlic and reviving my indoor herb garden.
FOUR: A Weeknight Feast with Pioneer Woman’s Pot Roast
This sumptuous pot roast is not your typical weekday dinner. But it’s the perfect treat for a family feast on a lazy Sunday night. It calls for patience with its four-hour slow cooking process but rewards you with tantalizing aromas and delicious tastes. To complement it, my Instant Pot mashed potatoes were a hit, especially with David. Steaks and spuds – absolute comfort food!
A Homecoming for Duck & Nugget
This week brought a reality check with a confirmation Duck & Nugget are indeed roosters. As expected, Duck has become quite territorial and protective of his flock. Thanks to a friend, we found an ideal home for our feathered pals, a farm sprawling across 50 acres, where they would share the space with cows, goats and fellow chickens. As we prepped to bid them goodbye, my emotions got the better of me, underlining that I’m perhaps too sentimental for hardcore farm life.
As always, it’s a joy catching up with you here. Enjoy your weekend and embrace the autumn magic!
