A hearty hello to you on this lovely Friday, and a warm welcome to the spellbinding month of October! If anyone ever aligns with Anne’s sentiments, it’s definitely me- A world with Octobers is indeed a world worth living in.
On the very first day of the month, Kaitlyn, brimming with fervor, set her alarm clock pretty early to ensure our home was transformed from a cozy autumn setting to an eerily delightful fall ambiance. She procured Halloween decorations from our storage bin that blend perfectly with the aesthetic of the season. Just a quick mention – these Halloween decors surely offer the most value for your money if you’re in a festive spirit.
As the day proceeds, we’ve got a schedule packed with vibrant activities. We’re heading to the park to meet our friends, we have my mom coming over for a visit, there are girls’ soccer games on the agenda, and some football sessions to monitor. On top of that, the weather forecast looks promising. What a fantastic day it seems to be! But hey, let’s kick things off with our scrumptious Friday Five.
ONE: September Amazon Finds
As I scan through our recent haul, I can’t help but giggle. You’ll be surprised to see some unconventional items on the list! You have David to thank for these- he’s ventured into showcasing products right up his alley (think along the lines of yard maintenance, home improvements, energy monitoring). It seems like his recommendations have been well-received! Just hop over to my storefront for a closer look.
From a powerful 4-Gallon Battery Powered Backpack Sprayer to tools like the Emporia Home Energy Monitor, intriguing items like Faux Fall Mums and Artisan Sourdough spiral edition, to a handy 16 oz Stainless Steel Lunch Thermos; there’s a unique mix of utilitarian and quirky!
TWO: Dining Bliss at Lazy Goat, Greenville
This week, David and I treated ourselves to a dinner date at the recently re-opened Lazy Goat. Nestled right on the Reedy River with a splendid view of the thrumming Swamp Rabbit Trail, the place combined a lively location with exquisite interiors. While the staff was commendable, the food didn’t quite hit the mark. Our meal was wrapped with the tastefully cooked lamb kebabs and mindfully selected Malbec, leaving us content.
THREE: My Autumn Gardening Adventure
My fall garden might not appear to be the epitome of passion – it’s right there in the middle of the effort spectrum. I’ve cleared out the summer remnants, enriched the soil, and sown some seeds – carrots, broccoli, cabbage, kale, parsley, dill, sage, thyme, and oregano, to be precise. The result remains to be seen! I’m looking out for a spot for my garlic too, and considering nurturing an indoor herb garden soon.
FOUR: Reveling in Pioneer Woman Pot Roast
This week’s culinary adventure featured an excellent pot roast. Be warned, this is not your typical weeknight dish, but an indulgent Sunday family treat. Slowly cooked for four hours, the delightful aroma wafting from it enticed our senses. To pair, I served some Instant Pot mashed potatoes, which David greatly admired. After all, who doesn’t adore a hearty meat and potato meal?
And finally, Duck and Nugget’s New Home-bound Journey
This week, sad but necessary, we acknowledged that our beloved Duck and Nugget are indeed roosters. Our friend, an expert with a trove of chicken knowledge, confirmed our fears. They’re showing all the signs, from growing spurs to the undeniable crowing drill. Fortunately, another friend introduced us to a kind-hearted couple looking for roosters for their sprawling 50-acre farm. We bid our final goodbyes to Duck and Nugget, promising them they’re in good hands.
That’s it for our Friday catch-up session. Thank you for joining our conversation. Here’s to an enlightening and delightful weekend! <3
