A warm welcome to this beautiful October! Anne’s words resonate well with me, “I’m so delighted we inhabit a universe where Octobers exist.” Once the first day of October dawned, Kaitlyn’s excitement could not be contained. She woke up early, eager to unearth our Halloween decorations and set the stage for a chillingly exciting fall in our house. Her zest for the changing seasons is undeniably infectious. Allow me to remind you that you can achieve maximum effect with minimal expenditure on Halloween decorations.
The day ahead is packed with fun activities like a playdate in the park with buddies, welcoming my mom for a visit, cheering for our girls at their soccer matches, and relishing some football. It indeed is going to be a satisfying day, given the lovely weather that awaits us. But before we embark on these adventures, let’s delve into the appealing Friday Fantastic Five!
The first one on the list: Amazon Favorites of September
It’s amusing to reminisce about the adored items, some of which are a refreshing change from my usual favorites. That’s because David has added interesting and seemingly useful product reviews in his area of expertise (home improvement, yard, energy monitoring). You can take a look at these on my store.
We loved the 4 Gallon Battery Powered Backpack Sprayer, Emporia Home Energy Monitor, the Sense Energy Monitor, Faux Fall Mums, Artisan Sourdough (Spiral Edition), and the Stainless Steel 16 oz Lunch Thermos.
Next highlight: An Evening at The Lazy Goat in Greenville
David and I had the pleasure of experiencing a date night at the recently re-opened restaurant, The Lazy Goat. With an unbeatable location beside the Reedy River and the Swamp Rabbit Trail, the views are exceptional. We relished the first-rate food, and the ambiance added to the vibe. The delectable truffle fries and perfectly cooked lamb kabobs were the stars of our meal, but the other dishes were slightly underwhelming.
Another small happiness: My Autumn Garden
To be honest, my effort towards the fall garden has been a tad relaxed. I discarded the leftover summer plants, refreshed the garden with new bags of soil and just sowed some seeds directly last weekend. The harvest awaits, but only time could tell how it turns out! I am also considering starting my indoor herb garden soon!
Fourth on the list: Delicious Pot Roast Recipe from Pioneer Woman
I experimented with a new recipe for pot roast this week, and it became an instant hit! While it might not be an everyday dish, this one is perfect for a grand family dinner on Sunday. Prepare the dish low and slow over four hours and pair it with mouth-watering Instant Pot mashed potatoes. This delicious combination won David’s heart!
Bringing up the rear: A Safe Haven for Duck & Nugget
This week, a conversation with a friend confirmed our suspicions – Duck & Nugget are, indeed, roosters. This discovery resolved my doubts, and luckily enough, another friend proposed an ideal new home for my little roosters. Owned by a generous couple, it’s a sprawling 50-acre farm that provides shelter to various animals, including goats, cows, chickens, and more. Handing over my roosters stirred up some emotions, but it reassures me that they are in a safe haven.
Thank you for joining this conversation. I hope your weekend is brimming with excitement and joy!
