Greetings and jubilations! Hello to the splendor of Fridays and the charm of Octobers! Anne certainly got it right; how can you not embrace the beauty of this month? From the early morning magic of October 1st, my sweet daughter Kaitlyn has been all over our Halloween stash, transforming our space from a cozy autumnal haven to a lighthearted eerie spectacle. Her enthusiasm for the seasons is contagious! You don’t need to break the bank to haunt up your place for Halloween, which I am all the more aware of every year.
As the day advances, we’re brimming with lively plans, from playground rendezvous to welcoming grandma to town. Throw some weekend sports in the mix, and it looks like we’re in for quite an enchanting couple of days of bliss and bonding. But before we head out the door, let me share our Friday quintet!
ONE: September Stars – Amazon Wonders
Pouring over your highly sought after items from Amazon this September is a riot. A few unconventional listings make it all the more entertaining, and for that, we can thank David’s disclosure of his top home, garden, and energy management picks. Here’s a brief overlook at what tickled your fancy.
• The efficient 4 Gallon Battery Powered Backpack Sprayer
• Energy Monitors from Emporia and Sense
• Aesthetically pleasing Faux Fall Mums
• That sought after copy of Artisan Sourdough (spiral edition)
• The practical and sleek Stainless Steel 16 oz Lunch Thermos.
TWO: Date Night Highlight – The Lazy Goat, Greenville
This week, David and I took our romance to The Lazy Goat, a recently reignited eating joint. With its splendid location by the Reedy River and the Swamp Rabbit Trail, people-watching is readily on the menu. Inside, an ambiance that simply takes your breath away, coupled with the charm of extremely cordial staff. The food definitely pleases the eye, but could use some refining when it comes to flavor. Among the ups and downs of the culinary trip, the truffle fries and lamb kabobs keep you satiated.
THREE: The Autumn Garden Saga
My dedication towards the autumn horticulture project seems to be somewhat meandering. Read: I’m not all-in. Yet. Removing the tired plants of summer, I have prepared the garden beds and participated in a casual seeding recently. The hopeful garden dwellers include a mix of carrots, herbs, and greens among others. Will they find roots? We can only wait and watch.
FOUR: Culinary Adventure with Pioneer Woman Pot Roast
This week, the household savored a pot roast delight inspired by Pioneer Woman. An unconventional choice for a weekday, but this dish can heighten the spirits of a traditional family Sunday gathering. Just remember – patience is key since it needs to simmer slowly in the oven for about four hours. Pair it with Instant Pot mashed potatoes, and the rave reviews will pour in like the one from David. It’s timeless and classic — a beef and potatoes dish!
FIFTH: Winged Companions Find a New Haven
Our feathery friends Duck & Nugget morphed into roosters right under our noses. As a leading voice in poultry identified, they exude all signs indicating the system-clock of roosters, from tail feathers to the signature crowing. Luckily, Duck and Nugget have found an expansive new home filled with the company of other goats, cows, chickens, and more, where they can fulfill their protective instincts. Although sending them off brought tears to my eyes, understanding their happiness reassures us that it’s the right move.
Thank you so much for nurturing this online space with your presence. Here’s wishing you a weekend of delight and plenty of warm moments. <3
