Cheers to another fantastic Friday and a delightful entry into October! As Anne had always beautifully put it, we should take a moment to be grateful to live in such a world where October, in all its glory, is part of our lives.
My effervescent friend Kaitlyn was up before dawn on the very first day of October, rummaging through our Halloween gear. Her pure enthusiasm in transforming our homely fall abode into a thrilling, spooky spectacle brings me such joy. As a side note, if you’re on the hunt for affordable yet fantastic Halloween decorations, these are my top recommendations.
We have quite an exciting day ahead, rounded off with a sunny park rendezvous with friends, cherished family bonding as my mom comes to visit, and invigorating sports events with girls’ soccer matches and, of course, football! Moreover, the weather forecast seems promising, promising a day filled with sunshine and laughter. But before we dive into all that, allow me to usher you into our unique Friday Five!
FIRSTLY: Our Amazon September Selection
As I peek at our collection, I can’t help but chuckle at the diverse range of items—some quite unrelated to my usual choices. That would be due to David’s recent reviews on products in his specialized areas of home maintenance, gardening, and energy conservation. These generous insights seem to resonate well with you all! You can take a look at them in my storefront.
Our selection includes a Four Gallon Battery Powered Backpack Sprayer, an excellent pick for garden enthusiasts, the helpful Emporia Home Energy Monitor or the Sense Energy Monitor, Faux Fall Mums for that splash of color, the ever-reliable Artisan Sourdough (spiral edition), and a handy Stainless Steel 16 oz Lunch Thermos.
SECONDLY: Culinary Adventure at The Lazy Goat
A romantic dinner outing saw David and I at The Lazy Goat, a recently relaunched local restaurant. With picturesque views of the Reedy River and the bustling Swamp Rabbit Trail, it offers an interesting mix of ambience and excellent service staff. Although the food broadly merits a 7/10, rest assured, their beautifully cooked lamb kabobs and crispy truffle fries are worth trying.
THIRDLY: The Autumn Garden Chronicles
When it comes to my autumn gardening efforts, I admit, they could be more focused. I spent the last weekend enhancing the soil and sowing seeds for promising fall crops like carrots, broccoli, cabbage, kale, parsley, dill, sage, thyme, and oregano. Will they blossom into a bountiful garden? Time will tell.
FOURTHLY: Pioneer Woman Pot Roast
I rustled up an impressive pot roast recipe that spells the perfect Sunday family dinner. Although time-consuming, its four-hour low-and-slow cooking technique rewards with an unforgettable dish and an intoxicating aroma. Served with Instant Pot mashed potatoes, this hearty meal wowed David and everyone who tasted it.
Lastly: A New Haven for Duck & Nugget
In a bittersweet turn of events, we discovered our beloved pet ‘chickens’, Duck & Nugget, are indeed roosters. My knowledgeable friend further confirmed my suspicion by pointing out the growth of their spurs and distinguished tail feathers. A thoughtful and generous gentleman offered to provide them with a new home on his 50-acre farm, which was nothing short of a true blessing.
With that lovely note, I wrap up our Friday get-together. Here’s to a weekend bursting with joy and memorable moments. Until next time, take care!
